"Eluthando" means love. Eluthando Guesthouse Pty Ltd is a luxury one-bedroom, self-catering vacation home in St Lucia Rural, within the uMkhanyakude District — just 5km, 10 minutes away, from St Lucia. It is designed for comfort, privacy, and relaxation: a peaceful escape where elegance, nature, and culture come together.

Inside, a modern open-plan kitchen and living area and a luxurious queen-size bedroom; outside, beautiful landscaped gardens and braai facilities. The space is yours alone — reserved exclusively for couples, with a maximum of 2 guests per night, so every stay stays private, discreet, peaceful and classy, with security you can fully rely on.

Bird Watching

Over 500 bird species have been recorded across the lakes, grassland and forest of iSimangaliso — a World Heritage Site that begins at the edge of St Lucia town, 5km (10 minutes) away. Guided dawn walks can be booked locally.

Zulu Cultural Village Tours

Half-day visits to a working homestead nearby for traditional dance, beadwork, storytelling and a shared meal — a genuine introduction to Zulu life in the uMkhanyakude district. Pickups arranged from St Lucia town.

Deep-Sea Fishing Charters

Half- and full-day charters launch through the surf for game fish — couta, tuna, dorado and, in summer, marlin and sailfish. Skippered boats depart from St Lucia ski-boat club, 5km (10 minutes) away; tackle and bait provided.

St Lucia Crocodile Centre

Boardwalks over pools of Nile crocodile with keeper talks and feeding times — a relaxed, shaded outing that works well with children. On the Bhangazi road at the northern edge of St Lucia town, about 6km (12 minutes) away.

Horse Riding on The Beach

Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park

KwaZulu-Natal's oldest proclaimed reserve and one of the best places on earth to see rhino, alongside lion, elephant, buffalo and leopard. Roughly 75km (about 1 hour) west via the N2 — an easy full-day self-drive or guided safari.

Cape Vidal Beach

Warm, clear water inside a protected bay — safe swimming, snorkelling over the reef and long walks on empty sand. Inside iSimangaliso Wetland Park, about 32km (35 minutes) north through the park gate at St Lucia.

Cycling & Nature Trails

Flat, well-marked cycling and walking trails wind through coastal dune forest and along the estuary on the edge of town — bikes for hire in St Lucia, 5km (10 minutes) away. Early morning is best for birds and bushbuck.

St Lucia Estuary Cruise

Drift past hippo pods and basking crocodiles on a guided estuary boat cruise, with pelicans, fish eagles and, in season, whales offshore. Launches from the St Lucia town jetty, 5km (10 minutes) from the guest house.

Wonderful Very clean and comfortable accommodation. The compact kitchen is fully equipped with everything one may need. The bedroom has a very comfortable firm mattress for a good night's sleep. We really appreciated that we even had a washing machine. Everything looks brand new. The grounds offer complete privacy which is nice. The hosts are extremely welcoming and helpful. Any issues we had was solved as soon as possible. Highly recommend this place!
